Tom Tran PA-C, MPAs attended the University of Florida PA Program with a Master’s of Physician Assistant Studies 2001. He went on to specialize in Trauma Surgery and worked at Holmes Regional Medical Center. In 2002, Tom moved to Orlando and practice in Vascular Surgery and that is where he specialized in Vein Surgery. As one of the first to perform RF Ablation to treat Veins, the practice soon turned into an international site for training of Vein Disease. Since 2002, Tom has specialized in the surgical and cosmetic treatment of Vein Disease and wound care management. In 2007, Tom Invented a medical device to remove dialysis catheters receiving multiple patents and trademarks and as a result, he was presented with numerous awards and the Bob Scully Florida Physician Assistant of the year. In 2008, he published “Effectiveness of Gebauer’s Mist Spray in Decreasing the Pain Threshold in Tumescent Anesthesia” presented at the 2008 American College of Phlebology Annual Conference. Today, Tom teaches a class in Vein Disease Management Annually at the Florida Academy of Physician Assistants. He has also been honored to be the Distinguished Guest at the Miami Dade Community College Keynote Speaker Graduating Class of 2018 PA Program. He has served as President of the Florida PA Foundation and Treasurer of the American Academy of PA Foundation. With over 20 years of Vein experience, he has performed over 10,000 Laser Ablations and over 20,000 cosmetic treatment of vein disease.

What is a Physician Assistant? 

A Physician Assistant (PA) is a healthcare provider who diagnosis and treats a wide variety of conditions. Physician Assistants receive their training through the College of Medicine Physician Assistant Program at colleges and universities across the United States. Physician Assistants are part of the healthcare team and required by state law to have a supervising physician. Many PAs work independently within the dermatology office much like a staff dermatologist seeing a wide range of medical, surgical and cosmetic patients, but always under physician supervision. PAs also hold a prescribing license and are able to write prescriptions under the guidelines of the state they are licensed.
