  • Our practice does not require any specific preparations before a surgical procedure. Patients are encouraged to continue taking their regular medications and can eat either before or after the procedure. However, we do recommend avoiding caffeine before your procedure.

    It is important to note that our surgical procedures only utilize local anesthesia and, in most cases, are usually able to drive themselves home after surgery.

  • Mohs Surgery: The Mohs Surgery procedure involves surgically removing skin cancer layer by layer and examining the tissue under a microscope until healthy, cancer-free tissue around the tumor is reached (called clear margins). It offers the highest chance for identification and complete removal of the skin cancer while sparing the surrounding healthy tissue. This process continues until no cancer cells are detected, minimizing the removal of healthy tissue. This process can take up to 4 hours, perfomed at the Santa Fe office.     Surgical Excision: The surgeon removes the entire tumor along with a margin of healthy tissue to ensure all potentially affected cells are removed. The extent of the excision is determined based on the size and type of the lesion. This process can take up to one hour. After removing the tumor, it will be sent to an outside lab for confirmation of clear cancerous margins. This procedure can be done at any 3 office locations, depending on the provider who will be conducting the excision.

    Please note, there is a $100 fee for new patient cosmetic consultations with Mrs. Sandra Lopez. For existing patients within our practice, you may receive a complimentary cosmetic consultation with one of our skilled aestheticians at any time after your first visit.

For cosmetic appointments, a 24-hour cancellation notice is required, and failure to provide such notice will result in the deposit becoming non-refundable.
