Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Injection Therapy
What is PRP Therapy?

PRP therapy is a non-surgical natural hair restoration process utilizing platelets from a patient’s own blood and delivering them directly to the problem area to regenerate and regrow lost hair for natural looking results. The application of PRP causes miniaturized hair follicles to become healthier and larger, producing more robust hair growth. PRP has been shown to be very effective and suitable for both male and female pattern hair loss. ​Hair growth improvements can typically be measured in about three months, but it takes six to twelve months to visually “see” the difference in photos and in the mirror. Multiple treatments are required in the first year, typically 2-3 months apart. After the first year, most patients will require treatment once a year in order to maintain the hair growth effects. ​Patients with certain blood disorders or on certain medications are not candidates for PRP treatments.

  • There is no activity restriction after a PRP treatment. Patients may shower/shampoo/condition their hair normally just several hours after the treatment and resume normal daily and athletic activities. ​Most patients notice a brief period of inflammation during which their scalp remains somewhat pink and numb for a few hours. Swelling is rare and if it occurs is noticeable in the forehead or around the eye area on the next day. Any swelling takes about a day or two to resolve.

What are the laser procedures?

​IPL PhotoFacial – helps clear the redness and brown spots that develop from sun damage to give you a brighter, even skin tone.

Non-Ablative Skin Resurfacing – helps treat fine lines and wrinkles that develop from sun damage to give you smoother and tighter skin. Will also help reduce the appearance of acne scars and surgical scars.

  • ​Because the Icon IPL system offers non-ablative, non-invasive treatments, there is no downtime following a session. Depending on the specific condition being treated, you may need 2 to 3 treatment sessions to get the desired results. Some patients experience a little redness after their treatments, but it typically fades within hours or, at most, overnight. You may notice the pigmented spots darken initially after being treated. As the skin sheds damaged cells during the next 10 to 14 days, you'll see your skin tone become more even and clear.

Dysport / Botox

Our Providers can customize your treatment to meet your cosmetic needs. Years of squinting, laughing, frowning, and worrying can lead to deep wrinkles around your forehead, eyes and lips. Dysport® can significantly reduce or even eliminate these lines in as little as 3 days, with maximum benefits seen within 10-14 days. Treatments often last 3 to 4 months.

  • Dysport and Xeomin block signals from the nerves to the muscles. The injected muscle can no longer contract, which causes the wrinkles to relax and soften. It is most often used on forehead lines, crow's feet (lines around the eye) and frown lines. Wrinkles caused by sun damage and gravity will not respond to Dysport or Xeomin.

  • The procedure takes only a few minutes and no anesthesia is required. Dysport is injected with a fine needle into specific muscles with only minor discomfort. It generally takes three to seven days to take full effect. Blood thinning medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen and other anti-inflammatory medications can be stopped two weeks before treatment as well in order to reduce bruising. Please first check with your doctor before stopping these medications.

  • The effects can vary, but typically last three months. As muscle action gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to re-appear and wrinkles need to be re-treated. The lines and wrinkles often appear less severe with time because the muscles are being trained to relax.

  • Temporary bruising is the most common side effect. Headaches, which resolve in 24-48 hours, can occur, but this is rare. A small percentage of patients may develop eyelid drooping. This usually resolves in three weeks. This development is usually caused by migration and for this reason, you shouldn't rub the treated area for 12 hours after injection or lay down for four hours.

  • Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding or have a neurological disease should not use Dysport. Since Dysport doesn't work for all wrinkles, a consultation with a doctor is recommended.

Restylane

Fight signs of aging with Restylane. Restylane can be used to add volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds.) Restylane may also be used to enhance the lips.

Latisse®

Latisse® is an eyelash enhancement product manufactured by Allergen, the company that is also the manufacturer of Botox. Latisse results have confirmed its effectiveness, and Latisse is the first and the only FDA-approved medication to treat people with the problem of hypotrichosis, a condition where people have far too few eyelashes.

Latisse eyelash application gives the users eyelashes that are fuller, longer, thicker, darker, and more luscious. It is sold with a sterile and disposable applicator. The Latisse solution contains an active ingredient called “Bimatoprost” that is well known for its ability to enhance lash growth. It is an FDA-approved drug that was earlier used to treat eye conditions like glaucoma and also to manage ocular pressure.

Electrolysis Hair Removal

Electrolysis treatments are a form of electrical epilation where a wire filament is inserted into the hair follicle and a minimal amount of current is delivered to the root of hair to destroy it. The thermolysis modality will treat only the offending hair follicle, making this a non-invasive and more direct route to target unwanted hair growth. Thermolysis Electrolysis Thermolysis uses shortwave radio frequency or alternating current (AC). Thermolysis causes the water molecules by your hair to rapidly vibrate, which produces heat. When enough heat is created, thermolysis damages the cells that cause hair growth. This is the most commonly used method.

  • Our hair is constantly changing from a number of factors that make us who we are, it’s in our DNA. It is this diversity that makes proper hair removal through electrolysis a process. As our body reacts to different situations such as hormones, medications, weight, and even our genes, our hair growth pattern changes and may activate dormant hair follicles. The complex nature of hair growth controls the number of sessions required to reach your personal preference of hair removal. Generally, electrolysis results are typically noticeable within 3 months and can take up to 12 months for complete and permanent results. Depending on hair density and area, it could take longer. We offer sessions from fifteen minutes to an hour and recommend a weekly schedule so we may treat the follicle right when it emerges and at its optimal time for reaction. Alliant Dermatology’s goal is to see this process though to ensure complete satisfaction. Each individual has a different tolerance level, and that is taken into account. Modern electrolysis methods can be described as causing a tingling or warming sensation, but is considered to be tolerable. Topical desensitizing creams can be applied to help ease the sensation, just let your practitioner know ahead of time that you would like extra time to allow for numbing. Topical creams can be purchased over the counter and applied at home before arriving to your appointment as well. After your treatment, it is common to experience redness or swelling, both of which are usually short lived and resolve on their own. These are both natural reactions from the stimulus applied the follicle and can be eased with the use of an ice pack and witch hazel. In order to prevent any additional reaction, it is critical that you inform us of any medical conditions, medications, supplements, lotions and oils that you may be using at home.
