Dr. Joanna Bolton, MD

Dr. Joanna Bolton is in her 7th year with Alliant Dermatology. She is a board-certified dermatologist and Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology with over 13 years of dermatology experience. She honorably served in the United States Navy from 1999-2020, completing 11 of those years on active duty. Her most memorable duty station was serving as the Director of Dermatology in Guam for 3 years. Throughout her military career, she was awarded multiple academic honors and personal awards, including the Navy Commendation Medal and achieved the rank of Commander.
In 2016, Dr. Bolton completed the distinguished American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) Cosmetic Dermatologic Surgery Fellowship Program under the leadership of Dr. Mitchel P. Goldman, at the internationally renowned Cosmetic Laser Dermatology in San Diego, California. She has been an investigator in dermatologic research since college, and has participated in over 50 clinical research trials. Dr. Bolton has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed journal articles and textbook chapters, serves as a peer-reviewer for dermatologic publications, and routinely presents at professional meetings.
Dr. Bolton is a native of Bennington, Vermont and graduated from Brown University (with honors) and the University Of Vermont College Of Medicine. While in medical school, Dr. Bolton received the highly coveted U.S. Naval Health Professions Scholarship Award as well as numerous academic honors. She completed her internship and dermatology residency at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. During her residency, Dr. Bolton was highlighted as a “Resident in the Spotlight” by the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and completed the ASDS Preceptorship Program.
Dr. Bolton serves as a member in numerous professional medical societies and has demonstrated ongoing volunteerism and philanthropy as a mentor for aspiring dermatology residents and fellows, with community charitable events and organizations, and at The Villages Charter School where her 3 children attend high school and participate on several sports teams. Her husband serves as the head cross county coach and an assistant track coach at TVCS. Together, they enjoy going to Tampa Bay Buccaneers games, concerts and rooting for Boston-based teams.
