Common Skin Rashes

Skin rashes are one of the most common reasons people visit a dermatologist. There are numerous types of rashes with many different causes.  Some rashes may be caused by an allergic reaction (contact dermatitis); medications; plants; infection or disease; or an ingredient in cosmetics, lotions, soaps, etc.

A rash is characterized by a change in the texture or color of your skin.  Many rashes are simply itchy, while others may be painful, such as those that cause blisters or ulcers to form.

Because one rash can resemble another, it’s important to seek treatment from a dermatologist. The providers at Alliant Dermatology will determine the cause of your rash based on its appearance, location on your body, other physical symptoms you may have (pain, fever, etc.), and any irritants you may have been exposed to.
